Leroy Allen Wells was born June 5, 1972in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on June 25, 2012, making his age 40 years and 20 days. He was suddenly taken from us and is now peacefully resting among the angels.
Leroy graduated from Rolla High School in 1990 and then moved to Summersville where he made his home for 22 years. Leroy and Wendy Ann Brashers were united in marriage on February 27, 1993. They were blessed with three beautiful boys: Tyler David Allen, Joshua Wayne, and Jordan James. Leroy was extremely proud of his boys and thought they were the funniest people he knew. He liked nothing more than spending time with them in what he called quality time, but what the boys referred to as doing chores while dad supervised. Recently his job included holding his granddaughter Ellie while supervising, which to him was the job he thought he was truly meant for.
Leroy provided for his family by driving a truck for Dan Zimmerman, who was a dear friend. His best days in the truck were when one of his boys or his very special nephew, Braxton, went with him. When not working, Leroy enjoyed barbequing and hunting with his boys and Uncle David. He especially loved the Fourth of July celebration he hosted every year at his home. Leroy’s nieces and nephews were very dear to him and he wanted them to visit as much as possible. They lovingly called him their Uncle Monkey. Leroy was a strong supporter of his community and was very honored and proud to serve as an alderman and the Mayor of Summersville.
Leroy was preceded in death by his grandparents James Frank and Alice Barnett; Uncles Cleo, Frank, Sherman, and Donald; and father-in-law Jim Brashers.
Leroy is survived by his wife Wendy and sons Tyler, Josh, and Jordan of Summersville, MO; granddaughter Ellie Wells of Summersville; parents Evelyn and Johnny Black of Rolla, Missouri; sisters Lisa Harris and husband Stacy of Edgar Springs, Missouri and Shauna Matthes and husband Shane of Belle, Missouri; brother Billy Wells of Rolla, Missouri; uncle David Barnett and wife Linda of Summersville, Missouri; aunt Carol Basham and husband Jack of Hillsboro, Missouri; mother-in-law Judy Brashers of Springfield, Missouri; grandmother-in-law Shirley Brashers of Summersville, Missouri; brothers-in-laws Jimmy Brashers and wife Carla of Summersville, Missouri and Justin Brashers and wife Jamie of Mountain View, MO; and sister-in-law Jessica Wolfe and husband Bob of Houston, MO.
In forty short years Leroy touched many lives. He was always ready with a quick, witty reply or comeback. He never met a stranger and always liked to visit no matter where he was. Leroy will be deeply missed by the family and friends he held so close to his heart.
